In our previous article, Dr. Aerni provided a list of foods that may damage the your oral health. As promised, Dr. Aerni will now provide a list of foods that will actually boost the health of your mouth. Along with these foods, it is important to remember to implement good care habits like brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash.  

Foods That Boost Oral Health

1.) Celery:

Keeping your teeth clean, and secreting enough saliva are both critical in keeping your mouth healthy. Due to its texture, celery can clean your teeth as you chew on it. In addition to this, as you chew on celery, it will stimulate your salivary glands and increase your saliva production.

2.) Carrots:Oral Health

Like celery, carrots work to increase your saliva production. As we know, saliva is one of the best defenses against gum disease, tooth decay, and more.

3.) Pineapple:

Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain. Bromelain is extremely beneficial to your dental health as it works to break up proteins in your mouth and maintain the health of your teeth. In addition to bromelain, pineapples contain many other vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to your overall and oral health.  

4.) Cheese:

There are many factors that make cheese a good dietary choice for the health of your mouth. These factors include calcium, low sugar levels, a lack of acid, and most importantly the presence of casein. 5.) Yogurt:

Similar to cheese, yogurt is a great provider of casein.

6.) Pears:

In our previous post, we mentioned fruits that have a lot of citric acid. One major advantage of pears is that they do not contain acid like other fruits do. Additionally, pears provide your teeth with many vitamins and minerals and also increase your salivary flow.

Fluoride will work to repair the damages created by other foods, drinks, and physical activity that may have harmed the enamel of your teeth.
